E. Guinea - Feasibility studies and Design of a Power Plant

Project Scope of Work:

Design of Hydroelectric Power Plant including Design of hydroelectric power plant with 650 GW/h annual capacity on Djiploho Falls along Wele River for power generation and distribution to 12 towns in the country, design of Djiploho Dam in the upstream of Djiploho Falls, and design of Water Transmission structures from the same river to 12 towns of the country.

Carried out Work:

Considering the environmental conditions of the project site among dense equatorial forests lacking suitable access road, hydrological and hydraulic conditions of the river, geological and tectonic characteristics of the region, surveying works were carried out during the second half of 2002 and several maps were prepared from the area surrounding the reservoir, dam construction site, Water Transmission course, power plant location and river cross sections. Drilling works for geotechnical bore holes were carried out using modern drilling equipment and the resulting samples were forwarded to Tehran for the performance of necessary test. Also, geophysical and geoelectrical study group carried out the relevant field studies using bore holes drilled in the region. Construction of meteorological and hydrometrical stations was performed through the supply, erection, and commissioning of all equipment required by the said stations so that the necessary data could be obtained for design works. Then the project final reports in 16 volumes were prepared and submitted in connection with following area: Meteorology, Hydrology, Water Resources Planning, Electricity Market, Economic Project Evaluation, Power Plant Equipment, Hydraulic Structures, Diversion Dam & Water Transmission System, Equatorial Guinea Power Distribution Network, Hydro mechanical Equipment, Electric Power Master Plan, Geotechnical Engineering & Geology, Equatorial Guinea Water Transmission System, Potential Sources of Construction Materials, Concrete, Cost Implementation Report, and Final Technical Report.

Project Outline

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Sultanate of Oman has launched a concreted effort, highly coordinated and on a national scale, to expand & modernize the country's transportation systems, including a road network and a highway linking the northern and southern regions. The Khasab to Al-Khalidieh Road Project which is situated in Oman's Musandam governorate calls for the construction of a 21.6 km paved road. The project comprises the first section of the Khasab to Diba Al-Baiyah network which links the southern and northern regions of Musandam governorate. The road consists of two 3.5-meters lanes, plus two 1.5-meter paved shoulders and two 1-meter unpaved shoulders. The total width of the road is 12 meters.

Scope of Work

Project Outline

The 4th Aromatics Plant is the world's largest petrochemical aromatics producing complex. With a total annual capacity of over 1.28 million tons, the plant produces 750,000 tons of paraxylene, 430,000 tons of benzene and 100,000 tons of orthoxylene per year.

The project employed over 2500 workers and nearly 250 site staff, mostly engineers and technicians ,making it one of the largest petrochemical projects carried out by a private sector company in Iran.

The project's scope of work involved civil and structural works, installation of mechanical and electrical equipment, instrumentation, above and underground cabling and piping. An important feature of the project was the contractor's commitment to operate a quality management system based on ISO 9001 standards, and putting in place effective occupational health, safety and environmental management systems.

Project Outline

The 10,000-unit residential housing Project in Venezuela is the biggest export of technical and engineering services in Iran's history and one of the world's largest housing projects carried out within the framework of a single contract. The project will be built via an industrialized mass-housing construction method called "Large-scale Housing Construction Based on In-Situ Concrete Method with a Continuous Formwork system". Kayson's unremitting efforts over the past 32 years to assimilate, adapt and apply various residential construction technologies has resulted in the development of a unique method for building large-scale housing faster, better, and at a lower cost in virtually every corner of the globe. Given the structural integrity of the foundation, the ceilings and the walls in this system and since all the structural elements are load bearing, the building is considerably lighter than steel structures and provides greater protection against earthquakes, fires, windstorms and progressive collapse. Another distinctive feature of the system is its extraordinary speed, enabling Kayson to build the reinforced concrete structure of 24 apartment units per day in the Venezuelan project.

It is to be noted, however, that the efficiency and effectiveness of Kayson's housing system depends largely on the implementation of a state-of-the art total quality management system that would enable the project management team to control the sequence, timing, and quality of each and every activity with exacting accuracy .

Scope of Work

The project's scope of work involves design, procurement and construction of four residential townships, each encompassing a total land area of 210 hectares and each site comprising 2500 two- and three- bedroom apartments. Kayson is also responsible for building auxiliary facilities for each township, including schools, kindergartens, libraries, parking space, stadiums, etc., with a floor area of over 16,000 square meters, and infrastructures such as gas, water, sewerage & telephone networks landscaping and other facilities.
